¡Hola familia Becker!
I hope you were all able to enjoy the beautiful weather this past weekend! Thank you to everyone who made it to Fall Fest, we had an amazing turnout! Thank you so much to our Fall Fest committee, volunteers, and PTA for making it all happen, you are amazing!! Our Book Character Parade and dress up day was a huge success! We really enjoyed seeing all the cute and creative costumes today! For those of you who will be celebrating Halloween, here's wishing you a safe and fun evening!
On Tuesday, November 1st, Lively Middle School's Dual-language Program is hosting a Dia de los Muertos festival. Please see below for the event flyer. Also, on November 4th, you are invited to the Travis Vertical Team Spirit Night to cheer on Travis Early College High School as they take on LASA. You are encouraged to wear your Becker gear as we join other campuses from the Travis Vertical Team.
Early voting began Monday, October 24th, and there’s a handful of opportunities on the ballot to make your voice heard in Austin ISD decision-making. You’ve been hearing about the 2022 Bond for months, and the $2.44-billion package will appear on the ballot as three separate propositions.
- Proposition A would cover the majority of projects with $2.32 billion for school modernizations, safety and security upgrades, maintenance needs and other facility improvements.
- Proposition B would provide $75.5 million for one-to-one student and staff devices, classroom technology upgrades and improved Wi-Fi access.
- Proposition C would bring $47.4 million to districtwide stadium facilities like Burger, Nelson, Delco and Noack which are also used for community events such as vaccination clinics and graduation ceremonies.
Five seats on the Board of Trustees are also up for election, including Districts 1, 4, 6 and 7 and at-large position 9. Trustees for District 6 and at-large position 9 are running for re-election, while Districts 1, 4 and 7 will have a new representative. Early voting ends Nov. 4th, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th.
